When LifeApps Media, Inc. (OTCQB: LFAP) chose to join the fight against the obesity epidemic sweeping the nation, it did so armed with a source that understands the battle ahead. That source is Dr. Venus Ramos who helped the company develop the exercises featured in its MDWorkout® app designed for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and can be downloaded from the App Store.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the U.S. and rates continue to remain high. More than one-third of adults in this country (35.7%) and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2 to 19 years of age are obese. Clearly the problem isn’t going away and the costs associated with obesity are on the rise with Americans paying over $150 billion in medical costs, and the obese in the U.S. pay substantially more per year than the non-obese.
The CDC says obesity contributes to a number of health problems; including, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, and with the grim statistics facing the obese in the U.S., there is no better time than the present to start addressing the epidemic. LifeApps Media takes obesity seriously and in its effort to bring apps to consumers that allow for a more hands-on approach to the exercise and activities that will make us all healthier, it has offered up MDWorkout®.
This app features exercises developed with and demonstrated by Venus Ramos, MD. Dr. Ramos is a licensed physician, personal trainer to celebrities, a fitness model, motivational speaker and she is considered a health and fitness expert. As a medical weight loss provider at her Long Beach, California, practice, Dr. Ramos understands the epidemic and the difficult fight for those suffering from the disease. LifeApps Media took full advantage of Dr. Ramos’s expertise and has designed a product it’s very pleased to present to consumers.
LifeApps Media says MDWorkout® is a full-featured workout tutorial app with over 100 workouts, yoga routines and stretches. The new My Routine function lets users customize workouts as easily as building playlists. High quality photos accompany every workout and HD videos can be downloaded for nearly every workout through in-app purchase.
The app allows users to share workouts via Facebook, Twitter or Email and track all of their progress with the log book and workout records. LifeApps made sure that everything users need to workout at home, in the gym or on the road is in its MDWorkout app. A future upgrade for the app could be to link MDWorkout® directly to monitoring devices like heart monitors or calorie counters.
LifeApps Media CEO, Robert Gayman, said of the company’s contribution to fight obesity, “We conceived MDWorkout® from the beginning as an important tool in battling obesity. By working with a medical doctor from day one, our concept for the app has always been forward thinking in training routines and nutritional guides that aid users in the battle against obesity.”
